Biography George Elley joined Canterbury in 1942.

A strong second rower, George made an immediate impact and secured a first grade position from the start of the season which he held for three seasons.

George played in the 1942 Premiership winning team.

In 1945, he became captain-coach of the reserve grade team and played in the reserve grade Grand Final against South Sydney.
