Jim joined Canterbury in 1993 to become the regular lock forward for the next three seasons. He played every game in the season including the Preliminary Final against Brisbane.
In 1994, Jim played in the Grand Final against Canberra.
In 1995, Jim played every game of the season including being in the Premiership winning team against Manly. He won the Churchill Medal on the day.
Jim was selected to play in the 1995 World Cup. He played for NSW on six occasions from 1996 to 1998 and played for Australia on six occasions from 1995 to 1996.
In 1996, Jim joined Parramatta to play 102 games from 1996 to 2000.
In 2001, Jim joined the London Broncos and returned to Australia in 2004 and has been on the Roosters coaching staff since that time.
In 2004, Jim was nominated for the Berries to Bulldogs 70 Year Team of Champions.
