Biography Peter Mortimer joined Canterbury in 1977 as a centre.

The brother of Steve and Chris Mortimer, Peter became a regular member of the first grade team when Peter O'Neill was relegated.

In 1978, Peter played in the Preliminary Semi-Final against Parramatta.

In 1979, Peter played his only game for NSW against Great Britain and played in the Grand Final against St George.

In 1980, Peter was relegated for Greg Brentnall and after spending most of the season in reserve grade, was recalled when Stan Cutler broke his ankle in the finals. Peter played in the Premiership winning team against Easts (Roosters).

In 1981, Peter played every game that season and into 1982, had played 49 consecutive games.
