Biography Steve Gearin joined Canterbury in 1975 as a goal kicking five-eight.

The brother of Paul and Greg Gearin, Steve became a regular member of the under 23s team, mainly playing on the wing. Steve played in the Preliminary Final against Balmain.

In 1976, Steve became a regular member of the reserve grade team and received the opportunity to play first grade against Newtown when Chris Anderson was relegated.

Steve's 1977 season was ruined by injury but Steve returned in 1978 to become a regular member of the first grade team playing on the wing.

Steve was to secure a position in first grade for the next five seasons. In 1978, Steve played in the Preliminary Semi-Final against Parramatta.
