Biography Geoff Connell played 28 games for Balmain in two spells from 1965 to 1971 as a second row forward.

From 1967 to 1969, Geoff moved to Brisbane to play for Easts.

He played eight games for Queensland and one Test for Australia during his time in Brisbane.

In 1972, Geoff joined Canterbury to become a regular member of the first grade team, making his debut against South Sydney early in the season.

In 1973, Geoff was appointed captain of the team. He captained Canterbury on 20 occasions and played in the 1973 Preliminary Semi-Final against Newtown.

In 1974, Geoff commenced the season in reserve grade but returned to first grade for the finals and played in the Grand Final against Easts (Roosters).
