Biography Peter Van Gulick joined Canterbury in 1970 as a centre.

Peter progressed quickly through the grades and received his opportunity to play in first grade when Doug Kelly was relegated. However his initial season was interrupted by injury.

Peter was a regular first grade winger in the first half of the 1971 season but was relegated for Rod Jackson. He then played in the reserve grade Premiership winning team against St George.

After starting the 1972 season in reserve grade, Peter returned to first grade replacing Bernie Lowther but by mid-season, Peter was then relegated for Bernie Lowther.
